Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt did not have “10 secret affairs” before their divorce, despite a report. This story, which comes a year and a half after the couple split, is filled with falsehoods. Gossip Cop can debunk it.
According to the National Enquirer, Jolie and Pitt “couldn’t quit cheating” throughout their relationship. In fact, the supermarket tabloid claims she filed for divorce “over charges of cheating.” The gossip magazine calls out both stars, accusing them each of unfaithfulness, infidelity and inappropriate behavior. It’s even alleged it’s a “miracle” the couple “made it to the altar” because prior to their 2014 wedding, Pitt was “left reeling” over Jolie supposedly confessing about “jumping into bed with other men and women.”
The tabloid alleges Pitt “bolted from a premarital counseling session” after Jolie “admitted” she was still intimate with other people after they got together. “Angelina boldly confessed that she continued to have [relations] with other men after they’d fallen for each other,” a so-called “insider” is quoted as saying. The magazine next brings up Johnny Depp, asserting that his then-partner, Vanessa Paradis, was “fuming” over the possibility of him “hooking up” with Jolie when they filmed 2010’s The Tourist.
From there, the outlet claims there were “more pre-wedding jitters” after Jolie allegedly spent time with Jared Leto. The publication maintains the pair once had a romance, and contends Pitt was “crushed” that she was now “making another play” for him. Then there’s Jack O’Connell, the star of 2015’s Unbroken, which Jolie directed. The tabloid asserts Pitt was “super jealous” of him, and before contending he also “panicked” when Jolie cast the Japanese star in Miyavi in the film, because he supposedly bore a resemblance to her former lover, Jenny Shimizu.
The next person brought up is Selena Gomez, with the magazine claiming she and Pitt made Jolie “angry” by “hooking up” at the 2016 Golden Globes. Then the outlet alleges Jolie was caught “two-timing Brad” while in Cambodia that year, as she worked on First They Killed My Father. “To Brad, it’s emotional cheating,” a purported “pal” contends about the actress-director supposedly growing close with an unnamed crew member. The publication even asserts that it was a “battle” over that situation that “really brought on the divorce,” particularly since Pitt was getting “revenge with a married star,” said to be his War Machine co-star Meg Tilly.
The National Enquirer goes on to offer a “final twist,” in which it’s claimed Pitt and Jolie “both had their flirtations with female nannies.” A questionable “source” maintains Jolie had a “love affair” with family employee Lena Gould, and further alleges she was “suspicious” of Pitt’s dealings with an unidentified “gorgeous assistant.” To top it all off, Pitt’s Allied co-star Marion Cotillard is mentioned as the “other woman that broke up Angelina’s marriage.”
But all of these allegations are several years old, and Gossip Cop busted virtually each and every one when they were originally published by the tabloid because they’re all untrue. For example, Cotillard herself denied rumors she and Pitt had an affair. And as we’ve pointed out several times now, Jolie never dated Leto.
Nothing has changed in the time since these unsubstantiated claims were first made to suggest they suddenly have merit. The magazine is simply regurgitating bogus tall tales from its archives for the sake of being salacious. In truth, there was no third party involved in the couple’s split, and they did not step out on each other throughout their relationship.
The real reason Jolie filed for divorce was the plane fight, which sparked child abuse allegations involving Pitt. Though he was ultimately cleared, the divorce is still moving forward. Regardless, Jolie did not leave him “over charges of cheating,” and their relationship was not plagued by infidelity.
