February 24, 2018Hollywood Hops on #BoycottNRA Bandwagon Calling on Companies to Sever Ties With Gun Lobby
Alyssa Milano, Billy Eichner, Seth MacFarlane and Debra Messing among those stars firing back at NRA.
Students who survived the recent mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, have been putting pressure on big corporations to sever ties with the National Rifle Association, and celebrities are following suit.
"#BoycottNRA" began trending on Twitter overnight Thursday into Friday, with many people tagging specific companies associated with the gun lobby. As of Friday afternoon, the social media movement had inspired several companies to cut ties with the association, including Best Western and Wyndham Hotels, Symantec security software, home security company Simplisafe, Enterprise Holdings, Inc. — which owns Enterprise, Alamo and National Car Rental — and First National Bank of Omaha. As of now, Amazon, FedEx, Avis and Hertz still have deals with the NRA.

We failed the children who died in Columbine. We failed the 6 & 7 year olds slaughtered in Sandy Hook. We failed every child who‘s died on the streets of our cities every single day. It’s time to stop failing. It ends here. It ends now. U will make changes or u will be voted out.

As a CA gun owner I’m disgusting by this obscene propaganda by the #NRA and spokesperson @DLoesch. The #NRA has 1 goal, to help manufacturers sell as many guns as humanly possible, no matter how many politicians they have to buy or Americans have to die! #NeverAgain #VoteThemOut https://t.co/YmgVP8kItZ

Every dollar any company discounts to the @NRA is another dollar they can use to buy @GOP politicians to do their bidding, and thereby promote gun sales, which is their true aim. It’s blood money.
That’s why it’s so important to keep pressuring these companies to #BoycottNRA.— Beau Willimon (@BeauWillimon) February 23, 2018

Look at this. Look how sad it is. He took $3.3 million from the @NRA and has to parrot defensive arguments like this about the weapon of choice for child murdering. You think I give a shit about the minutiae of the firing rates of various child-killing weapons? https://t.co/l7GYyMNYW4

The NRA sells guns to Americans, then when those guns get used for the purpose for which they were designed, the NRA sells Americans ways to fortify against the effects of those guns. Quite a racket they have going.
And their biggest pitchman is sitting in the White House.— George Takei (@GeorgeTakei) February 23, 2018

I applaud our nation's car rental companies for having the courage to stand up where our politicians will not.
The shit I have to type in 2018. #BoycottNRA— Richard Jeter (@MilesToGo13) February 23, 2018
The NRA is a bigger threat to America than ISIS.
Of course even the GOP knows this because at this point it's undeniable common sense… but, you know, $$$.— Randi Mayem Singer (@rmayemsinger) February 23, 2018
Trump: “Some of the strongest advocates of what I’m saying are some of the strongest advocates for the Second Amendment.” My wild guess is that this means nothing will get past his desk that doesn’t have NRA buy-in.b #CPAC2018

Again: the NRA supports “strengthening,” opposes “expanding.” https://t.co/hwieGxJm8w

I’m ok with gun ownership.
I don’t want law abiding citizens to not have their guns.
But please stop with the whole having guns is a “God given right” thing.
No scripture talks about guns.
None.— andy lassner (@andylassner) February 23, 2018
