Lady Gaga showed some PDA with her fiancé, Christian Carino, by giving him a kiss backstage at Sunday night’s Grammy Awards.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen them kissing at a high-profile event. They were caught lip-locked at last year’s Super Bowl. The pair announced their engagement in November of last year, and Christian proved his love by getting a tattoo on his arm of Gaga’s face.
Gaga gave us a double dose of FASHION on Sunday night, first donning a gothic Armani Privé ensemble, made up of a lace bodysuit and billowing (removable) maxi skirt on the red carpet. Her hair, according to her stylist, Frederic Aspiras, was not inspired by Game of Thrones, but rather by her gown. Says Frederic, “Gaga and I always wanted to do something special with hair braiding. When I saw the dress, it reminded me of gowns from the Victorian era and how women wore corsets. Thus, I used that as inspiration to incorporate in the hair and braiding.” Also clearly visible was the enormous pink diamond ring that may or may not be her engagement ring.
Later, she looked luminescent in an all while gown for the stage performance. Showcasing her piano skills (with the help of producer Mark Ronson on guitar), Gaga performed her hits “Joanne” and “Million Reasons” on a white grand piano enclosed in a pair of angel wings. She dedicated the songs to her late aunt, who was the inspiration for her last album, telling the crowd, “This is for my father’s late sister, Joanne. This is for love and compassion, even when you can’t understand.”
While she may have won over the crowd, she didn’t get the same result from the Grammy voters, losing the Best Pop Vocal Album and the Best Pop Solo Performance awards to Ed Sheeran. After the show, Gaga shared that her performance at the awards was “very emotional singing. Soul shaking and humbling.”
You know Gaga is gonna Gaga, and that she did on Sunday. I can’t help but like her, questionable fashion choices and all.
