Since dropping his debut single, “Life Of The Party,” in 2014, Shawn Mendes — who just released his self-titled third album — has come a long way in the past couple years, and he’s learned a thing or two about himself and about his music along the way.
In a recent interview, the 19-year-old singer opened up about how he’s grown to accept that a performance is never going to be what he needs it to be in his head, and revealed the advice he would give himself, looking back, right before his first-ever show:
“It makes me so excited to go on tour because I know that it can’t be perfect. That’s not what life is. And I wish I could have told myself earlier. I would have saved myself from so many nights of being angry at myself. But that’s what growing up is.”
