Did Angelina Jolie refuse to attend the royal wedding because she couldn’t bring along her six kids? That’s the ridiculous claim in one of this week’s tabloids. Gossip Cop can set the record straight.
According to Star, the actress was invited to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s nuptials earlier this month, but she didn’t show up because her children weren’t welcome. A so-called “source” tells the magazine, “She was insulted that her kids weren’t invited. She was allowed to bring one guest – more than most people got, actually – but didn’t have a date to take.” The outlet’s questionable source adds, “In the end, she decided to skip it altogether.”
Here’s the main problem with the tabloid’s report: Jolie wasn’t invited to the royal wedding. Earlier this month, it was rumored that the actress would be going to the nuptials after she was spotted landing in London. But as first reported by People, and confirmed by Gossip Cop, Jolie was never planning to attend the royal wedding. Instead, Jolie traveled to the UK to film Maleficent 2, which began production in London earlier this week.
Regardless, Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to the actress, who tells us on the condition of anonymity that she didn’t snub the royal wedding because she couldn’t bring her kids. Our insider confirms again that Jolie only traveled to London to work on the film. The tabloid’s entire narrative is fabricated.
Unfortunately, a lot of what Star publishes about the actress isn’t true, so we’re not surprised by this bogus article. Earlier this year, Gossip Cop busted the magazine for falsely claiming that Jolie would be having a “showdown” with Jennifer Aniston over her reunion with Brad Pitt. Of course, the entire story was based on a false premise since Pitt and Aniston never reunited. As many trusted publications have noted, the ex-spouses haven’t seen each other in a long time.
Shortly before that nonsense, the untrustworthy outlet wrongly reported that Jolie had been hospitalized. It was alleged that the actress was “wasting away” amid the stress of her divorce, and that her estranged husband urged her to get healthy for the sake of their kids. There was simply no truth to the magazine’s account of events.
It’s clear the unreliable tabloid has very little insight into Jolie’s personal life. The notion that she would only attend the royal wedding under the condition that her six kids were invited is simply absurd. Perhaps Jolie would have attended Prince Harry and Markle’s marriage ceremony, if she had actually been invited.
