Was Rihanna ever pregnant with Chris Brown or Drake’s baby? One year ago, a certain website speculated the singer was expecting, but didn’t know which beau was the father of her purported child. Gossip Cop busted the false story 365 days ago, and now we’re taking a look at how time has shown our reporting was correct.

“Is Rihanna keeping a massive secret from us?” asked HollywoodLife in its misguided post. The site used a paparazzi photo of the star “looking more full-figured than usual” to wonder if she “could be hiding a baby bump under her baggy, light blue shirt and using her purse to cover it up.” The blog insisted fans were “buzzing that she’s pregnant with her first child,” and went on to wonder, “But if she is carrying a bun in the oven, who might be the baby daddy?”

The online publication contended that the “last known person the Barbadian bombshell was romancing was Drake… or maybe it was Chris Brown,” and asserted it was “hard to keep track” of her love life. It was both ironic and problematic that the outlet was spreading the possibility that Rihanna was pregnant while simultaneously admitting that it didn’t know who she was or wasn’t dating. The website even ended its piece by asking readers, “Do you think Rihanna is pregnant?”

Of course, real media enterprises don’t ask consumers for the facts. They investigate and research, which is what Gossip Cop did. And in the course of fact-checking the pregnancy claim, a reliable source close to Rihanna, who did not want to discuss her personal life on the record, confirmed to us that she was not expecting a baby with Brown, Drake or anyone at all. Now not only nine months have gone by, but a full 12 months have passed, and it’s apparent our reporting was right.

Had the songstress been expecting in May of 2017, as alleged, she would’ve given birth around March of 2018. That means she would’ve had a sizeable baby bump by late January, but photos of Rihanna at the Grammys show that wasn’t the case. Additionally, as opposed to caring for a newborn, Rihanna has spent the last two months traveling the globe, from a Fenty Beauty event in Milan to Coachella in California to the Met Gala in New York City. What’s more is that she hasn’t been seen with Brown in several years, and earlier this month, Rihanna revealed she and Drake aren’t currently friends, much less in a relationship and raising a child together.

She’s actually been dating Hassan Jameel for nearly a year, a romance that has led HollywoodLies, as the site is nicknamed, to spread even more unfounded pregnancy rumors. But it’s abundantly clear that Rihanna was never pregnant with Brown or Drake’s baby a year ago, nor has she ever been expecting with Jameel. What the blog lacks in journalistic skill it apparently tries to make up for with fertile, but inaccurate, imaginations.
