George Clooney is among the most popular actors in the world. Unfortunately, he’s also one of the most popular tabloid targets. Gossip Cop now looks back at five recent wrong rumors about the movie star.

This past weekend, Woman’s Weekly baselessly reported that Clooney was quitting acting to focus solely on raising his twins. To back up its assertion, the unreliable magazine noted that the actor had pulled out of the starring role of Hulu’s “Catch-22” series, which he’s directing. However, the outlet didn’t mention that Clooney instead took a supporting role on the show, handing over the lead part to Kyle Chandler. He’s still very much appearing on screen, despite the clueless tabloid saying otherwise. It’s provably untrue that Clooney has quit acting to become a full-time dad.

In March, Woman’s Day made up a ridiculous story about Clooney planning to run for president in 2020. According to the publication, the deadly school shooting in Parkland, Florida had inspired the actor to make a bid for the White House in order to change gun laws. Although Clooney is an advocate for gun control, he isn’t running for office to enact change. Clooney himself dismissed the idea of running for president in an interview last year.

Gossip Cop called out OK! in February for falsely claiming that Clooney and his wife Amal were headed for a split. The alleged issues were said to be time apart and busy work schedules. Not only did a mutual pal of ours and the actor deny the story, but Clooney himself had gushed about his wife during a recent interview on David Letterman’s Netflix show, “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction.” Obviously, the happy couple is still very much together.

Last December, OK! wrongly reported that the Clooneys were expecting twins again just six months after the birth of their baby boy and girl. As time has shown, the human rights lawyer isn’t pregnant with one child, let alone two. In fact, the Clooneys revealed in a recent interview they’re done having kids.

And finally, Gossip Cop called out Life & Style last July for falsely claiming Clooney was moving his wife and kids from London back to Los Angeles “for security reasons.” It was said that terrorist attacks in the city had convinced the actor to relocate back to the United States. Clooney’s rep, however, shot down the article and told us the actor never fully left LA. He owns properties in both London and LA, and the family splits their time between the cities. And as time has proven, the Clooneys have continued to spend the majority of their time in London.
