Pippa Middleton attended Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding on Saturday, despite a report claiming she had been “snubbed.” A website even alleged earlier this week that Kate Middleton was “furious” her sister wasn’t invited to the nuptials. But the story was proven false.
On Thursday, RadarOnline announced in a headline, “Kate Vs. Meghan! Middleton Furious Markle Has Snubbed Her Sister Pippa.” The article began with the contention that Markle “left her soon-to-be sister-in-law Kate Middleton’s famous sibling off the guest list for her royal wedding this weekend, and the Duchess of Cambridge is seething.” A so-called “source” was quoted as saying, “Meghan not inviting Pippa to the wedding has upset Kate.”
“The fashionista is NOT invited to the royal wedding this weekend,” insisted the site, which also asserted that Pippa “did not invite Meghan to her own wedding to hedge fund manager James Matthews last May.” The blog went on to allege that in addition to the purported snubbing of her sister, Kate was also “embarrassed by Meghan’s family drama.” Referring to Kate and Prince William, the supposed snitch claimed, “They blame her for the whole mess, and worry about what Harry has gotten into.”
The outlet ended its piece by wondering, “Will Meghan and Kate make up before the wedding?” But this was all wrong on several levels. First off, Markle did attend Pippa’s wedding reception last year. The claim that she was not invited is patently untrue, and Gossip Cop actually called out RadarOnline almost exactly a year ago for erroneously claiming Markle was “banned” from the wedding. More significantly, contrary to the contentions about Pippa being “not invited” to Markle’s own wedding, the royal in-law was, in fact, in attendance. She and her husband were both pictured at the church on Saturday (see photo above), along with her parents and brother.
The Guardian even included Pippa in its article on stars who were at the royal wedding, and People actually has a story noting how people online have been comparing Pippa’s dress to the design on Arizona Green Tea bottles. So far from being snubbed, she not only attended the big event, but also ended up getting significant media attention. And given that Pippa was indeed among the wedding guests, this narrative about Markle and Kate having a falling out because Pippa supposedly wasn’t invited doesn’t stand.
RadarOnline has inaccurately made claims about a feud between Markle and Kate in the past, and just days ago, Gossip Cop corrected the online publication when it peddled a phony tale about Jessica Mulroney being Markle’s maid of honor. As had already been announced, the bride actually chose not to have a maid of honor, and that was evident on Saturday. Just as evident was that Pippa was there to witness it all, despite this bogus story about being “snubbed” and uninvited.
Notably, the site now has a new post up about Pippa being at the wedding. In it, the blog maintains she wasn’t originally invited, “but it looks like Meghan has had a change of heart.” Nothing changed. The outlet was just wrong from the start. Check out the contrasting headlines below.
