Selena Gomez, Justin Theroux NOT “More Than Friends,” Despite Report

Selena Gomez Justin Theroux Dating

(Life And Style)

Selena Gomez and Justin Theroux are not “more than friends,” despite a new tabloid cover story. The report wrongly alleges the stars are on the verge of dating. But Gossip Cop can confirm there is no romance brewing between them.

Life & Style is falsely announcing on the front of its latest issue, “Selena & Justin: It’s On!” But the gossip magazine is selling readers a lie. Even the image on the cover is photoshopped. While it appears to show Gomez with her hands resting on Theroux’s shoulder, this was created via two separate images that were deceptively edited together. The picture of Gomez is from when she attended a charity gala in November, while the photo of Theroux was taken at the September premiere of The Lego Ninjago Movie. Neither star was at the other event, and they never posed together for the snapshot that’s featured. There’s definitive proof of this on Google Images, which features the original photo of Gomez posing with a man who’s not Theroux. The fact that the outlet is trying to deceive its readers with a photoshopped picture is a red flag that the entire story is fabricated.

In the article, it’s alleged that while they “started out as friends,” Theroux and Gomez’s “relationship has taken an unexpected turn into something more serious.” A so-called “source” contends they “initially leaned on each other for emotional support after going through messy breakups” with Jennifer Aniston and Justin Bieber respectively, and now they’ve “become closer than ever.” Alleges this supposed snitch, “It’s turned into something more than friendship.” An alleged “insider” also tells the publication, “Selena and Justin are falling for each other.”

The story goes on to detail the “intimate conversations” they allegedly share, with the tabloid’s “source” claiming they’ve even discussed becoming parents. But the magazine notably stops short of branding the pair “a full-fledged couple,” noting later in the article that “nothing physical has happened between them.” Still, the “source” maintains, “Judging from the amount of flirting that goes on, it’s only a matter of time before they take things to the next level.” The outlet contends Gomez and Theroux have “discussed meeting up in secret, where they won’t be photographed together,” with the “insider” insisting, “They will keep their love life to themselves.”

That’s the publication’s built-in excuse for when they duo never actually go public with a relationship. The tabloid also gives itself away when it claims Theroux was “briefly linked” to Aubrey Plaza. As Gossip Cop and others reported earlier this year, that was a false romance rumor since Plaza has been dating her longtime boyfriend for years. Curiously, the outlet doesn’t mention Gomez planning a wedding with Bieber, which is what it alleged in January, a couple of months after declaring her a “pregnant bride.”

Life & Style, which is clearly not credible, has now abandoned that narrative for an equally untrue one involving another Justin. But as opposed to pursuing a relationship with Theroux, “Entertainment Tonight” recently reported that after Gomez’s split from Bieber, “Selena’s focus right now is herself… [She] doesn’t have it in her to be in a serious relationship.” E! Online also noted in a story about Gomez moving on from Bieber that she’s “learning to appreciate the single life.”

To recap, while the tabloid is claiming Gomez is about to embark on a romance with Theroux, more reliable outlets have stressed that she is interested in focusing on herself and being single. Clearly Life & Style doesn’t know what it’s talking about because it wrongly suggested Theroux was involved with Plaza, something that is provably false. And because it could not support its claims about Theroux and Gomez with facts, the publication resorted to manufacturing a fictional photo. Remember, this is all coming from the same magazine that insisted Gomez was marrying someone else just a few months ago. All of these falsehoods underscore how the cover story is simply not true.
