Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani “Ready To Wed”?

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani are not “ready to wed,” nor has he taken “a major step” toward getting married, despite a late and wrong story. Gossip Cop can correct this falsehood. We’re assured it’s not true.

According to the cut-and-paste site Celebrity Insider, Shelton has made a “big change in his life” in an effort to marry Stefani, and that is to convert to Catholicism. The blog actually acknowledges it ripped its story off the equally unreliable RadarOnline, and uses that outlet’s unnamed “source” to allege the country singer is changing religions because “Gwen was raised in a Catholic family and religion is a big part of her life.” “Shelton converting to Catholicism is a final step towards the altar,” maintains Celebrity Insider, which notes Stefani wants her three sons (Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo) to have a “connection with God” and her boyfriend to attend church with them.

As part of his conversion, the website mentions that “Shelton has given up drinking.” Clearly, the outlet knows as little about Catholicism as it does about Shelton. For starters, according to Catholic.com, the Bible does not forbid drinking alcohol. And Shelton most assuredly has not given up booze. But the blog didn’t realize that because it can’t be bothered with fact-checking. Instead, it took the word of RadarOnline as gospel when it should have known it’s nothing more than inaccurate gossip.

As Gossip Cop previously reported when we busted the original story about Shelton converting to Catholicism, few of the article’s claims are accurate. For instance, just six days ago Shelton shared several photos on Instagram of him drinking, including one picture with Stefani. And more to the point, when recently asked about marrying Stefani during a radio interview with CMT, Shelton responded, “I don’t think it’s anytime soon or anything.” So, contrary to the main premise, Shelton is not “ready to wed,” and it stands to reason he’s also not taking the “major step” of converting to Catholicism.

More significantly, however, is that while these websites hide behind an untraceable and possibly fabricated “source,” Gossip Cop has on the record from Stefani’s own rep that claims about her asking Shelton to convert are 100 percent untrue. Of course, we’re not entirely surprised by the falsity of its new report. Just a few months ago, Gossip Cop nailed Celebrity Insider when it published a fake news about Stefani being pregnant with Shelton’s baby. Much like that story, the latest one is also provably wrong.
