Robert Pattinson is often the subject of inaccurate tabloids reports. In the past six months alone, Gossip Cop has corrected several untrue articles about the actor, most of which have focused on his personal life. Here are five wrong rumors about Pattinson.
In December, the National Enquirer reported Pattinson and Emma Watson were dating. The tabloid quoted a so-called “source” saying the two co-stars, who first met while shooting 2005’s Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, “talk every night” and “going for it.” The alleged insider added that their “spark is here to stay,” and they were hoping that their relationship becomes “serious and long-term.”
False rumors tying the British stars together continued but, as Gossip Cop was first to report, there was nothing to them. “We’re just friends,” Watson said of Pattinson when asked at the 2009 premiere of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince whether they got close, and that’s all they are today as well. In fact, not long after the tales began linking them, Watson began dating Chord Overstreet, with whom she’s recently split.
The following month it was wrongly reported that Pattinson and Bella Hadid were a “new couple.” The claim was made by HollywoodLife, which has a rich history of making up provably untrue articles about Pattinson. The often discredited website maintained that Hadid and the actor got cozy at a Dior Homme show in Paris. As Gossip Cop pointed out at the time, the outlet didn’t even have a source saying they were dating. Instead, it simply speculated how they “definitely make a good looking couple,” based on a photo of them together at the fashion show.
Of course, in the five intervening months since the blog maintained Hadid was up for “a new heated romance” with Pattinson, the two have not even been seen together. In fact, Hadid has again been romantically linked to The Weeknd, her ex-boyfriend. As Gossip Cop noted, the real reason Pattinson and Hadid were pictured together at Dior’s menswear show is because they both have strong ties to fashion house. Back in 2013, Pattinson signed as the new face of Dior, and he’s since appeared in many print ads and commercials for the label. And Hadid was named the face of Dior in 2016.
February brought yet another work of fiction about Pattinson. According to Life & Style, Katy Perry was ready to “get married” to him. The tabloid even contended it had an insider who said, “Rob’s parents approve of Katy and want him to settle down.” The article, however, was based on a series of other made-up reports about the two dating.
The same magazine had falsely asserted shortly beforehand that Perry and Pattinson were spotted making out at Taix French Restaurant in Los Angeles. But as Gossip Cop reported, Pattinson and Perry simply went out to dinner with a group of friends. They didn’t kiss during the meal, nor were they even seated next to one another. Additionally, Perry’s rep went on the record to say they’re “just friends.” And, of course, it’s been long confirmed that Perry is dating Orlando Bloom again.
After getting it wrong about the actor and Hadid, Watson, and Perry, OK! absurdly alleged that Pattinson was getting back together with Kristen Stewart. Just a few weeks ago, the tabloid claimed a “source” told the publication that Stewart and Pattinson were quietly meeting up because there was “still chemistry” between them.
The same phony tipster added, “Kristen is angling to give things between them another go.” As Gossip Cop was told on background by individuals close to both stars, they weren’t meeting up and most certainly weren’t reuniting. Of course, Stewart was spotted on a sushi date with girlfriend Stella Maxwell last week in Los Angeles after spending the previous two weeks in Cannes together.
And finally, just a few weeks ago Life & Style concocted a bogus story about how Pattinson would be attending the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The magazine contended it had a source who said the star “scored an invite,” partially because he and Markle starred in 2010’s Remember Me. The clearly misinformed tipster added that Pattinson was “super excited about being there to witness a part of history,” but was unsure of who he would bring as his date, but speculated it could either be Stewart or FKA Twigs.
The movie star, however, was not invited to Markle and Prince Harry’s nuptials and, as Gossip Cop exclusively reported, Pattinson laughed off the royal wedding rumor. Of course, there was no reason for him to be there. Pattinson’s tenuous connection was that he shared brief screen time with the new Duchess of Sussex in Remember Me. Even Markle noted in an interview that she had a “small part” in the film and only shot a very few scenes with him, but felt he was a “really lovely guy.” And while the tabloids will probably publish more wrong rumors about Pattinson, Gossip Cop will continue to separate fact from fiction about him.
