5 Wrong Rumors About Jennifer Aniston After Justin Theroux Split

Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux were the focus of many false stories during their relationship, and that’s continued in the wake of their February breakup. Even though the couple has split, Gossip Cop has corrected a slew of bogus claims in recent months. Check out five of the most ridiculous rumors below.

Just one month after Aniston and Theroux announced their split, Gossip Cop busted RadarOnline for claiming that the actress offered Theroux cash to keep her “dark secrets” under wraps. The website said Aniston was “preparing” to cut the actor a check “in return for a clean breakup that will buy his silence forever.” But the notion that Aniston would need to offer Theroux money to “keep quiet” and not spread negative things about her was entirely made-up. In fact, they weren’t at odds at all. People reported Aniston and Theroux “still talk all the time,” making the claim of a dispute over “secrets” implausible.

In March, Star alleged Theroux cheated on Aniston with Petra Collins, a photographer and artist. The magazine’s questionable “source” was quoted as telling the publication, “Justin and Petra have been carrying on for some time. He insists that they’re just friends, but he seems obsessed with her, and Jen isn’t buying it.” But as Gossip Cop pointed out at the time, Theroux and Collins had never been photographed on a together, despite Star claiming the pair had gone on numerous outings in New York. Contrary to the tall tale, Theroux did not cheat on Aniston, nor did a third party contribute to their breakup. Collins’ spokesperson also told us point-blank that it was “definitely not true” she was in a romance with Theroux.

In April, RadarOnline posted an article on its website claiming Aniston wanted Theroux to “take her back” after failing to rekindle her romance with Brad Pitt. The outlet maintained Aniston regretted her separation from Theroux after it was alleged Pitt was “cozying up with brain box Neri Oxman,” but as widely reported, Pitt and Oxman are strictly friends and were not romantically involved with one another. On top of that, Aniston was not trying to reunite with Pitt, as People and others rightly reported. She was also not pursuing a reconciliation with Theroux regardless of Pitt’s dating life.

Later that month, Pitt was again dragged into the narrative when Gossip Cop corrected New Idea for wrongly claiming Aniston and Theroux had an “explosive showdown” over the actor. According to the often disproven magazine, the stars got into a heated argument prior to attending a birthday party for Jimmy Kimmel’s son because Theroux was angry Aniston had supposedly moved on with her ex-husband “so soon after they split.” Of course, as noted above, Aniston and Pitt had not reconciled. And as reported by People in a story about Aniston and Theroux attending the birthday bash, the “Friends” star was said to be “doing well,” as opposed to being “inconsolable” following a nonexistent argument. The fight report was completely fabricated.

Earlier this month, Grazia claimed in a cover story that Aniston and Theroux’s split had turned “toxic.” In the article, a so-called “source” was quoted as telling the outlet, “Jen and Justin are on terrible terms and it’s only getting worse.” Conveniently, unnamed and untraceable “friends” of the ex-couple further asserted the actress had been “hurt by Justin’s insensitivity” because he was allegedly “dating 25-year-old model Erika Cardenas.” But as reported by both Gossip Cop and People, there was nothing romantic between Cardenas and Theroux. As for the breakup with Aniston taking a nasty turn, a rep for Theroux confirmed to Gossip Cop the story was filled with “false” information.

As always, Gossip Cop will continue to separate fact from fiction, particularly with stories about the former couple, who rightly predicted this kind of behavior from the gossip media. “Whatever else is printed about us that is not directly from us, is someone else’s fictional narrative,” they said in a joint statement announcing their separation.
