The tabloids have been spreading fake news about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s divorce since the exes split in 2016. Gossip Cop consistently debunks these many bogus narratives surrounding the estranged spouses. Now, we look back at five recent wrong rumors about the pair.
Last week, Gossip Cop busted Life & Style for wrongly reporting that Pitt and Jolie’s divorce proceedings were held up because the exes had a disagreement over selling their Chateau Miraval estate in France. The unreliable magazine said the actress was demanding he sell the property and give her half the money, but the actor insisted on keeping it. The narrative was provably untrue. People just recently reported that Pitt and Jolie are still producing wine together on their vineyard at Chateau Miraval. “Their intent has always been to keep the property in the family as an investment for their children,” stated the trusted publication. Pitt’s own spokesperson also confirmed the article was fabricated.
Earlier this month, Star made up a story about Pitt trying to prove in court that Jolie had cheated on him in 2009 with a film dialect coach. The false premise was concocted after a woman named Anna Kowalski, said to be a housekeeper at New York’s Waldorf Astoria, alleged she witnessed Jolie being unfaithful. However, a spokesperson for the Waldorf Astoria told E! News that no one named Anna Kowalski worked at the hotel. The bogus narrative was based on complete lies.
Gossip Cop called out NW last month for falsely claiming that Pitt was planning to have Jolie committed to a psych ward. It was alleged she wasn’t sleeping or eating and refused to seek treatment on her own, so her estranged husband was going to have her involuntarily admitted for a psychiatric evaluation. However, Jolie’s supposed health issues were made-up. The actress told Vanity Fair last year, “I’m being smart about my choices, and I’m putting my family first, and I’m in charge of my life and my health.” Meanwhile, Pitt and Jolie are amicably working to settle their divorce. It’s been reported the main issues that need to be worked out are custody of their kids and division of their assets, but no reliable outlet has said the two are battling over the actress’s well-being.
Also in April, Gossip Cop debunked a Closer article about Pitt and Jolie supposedly “racing” to find love again. The story was riddle with inaccuracies. For one, it claimed that the actor was dating MIT professor Neri Oxman, despite reputable outlets such as E! News and People confirming he’s not in a romantic relationship with her. Meanwhile, it was also recently reported that Jolie “has no interest in dating” and is entirely focused on raising her six kids. The actress clearly isn’t competing against her estranged husband to find a new partner.
And finally, Gossip Cop busted Look last month for making up a story about Pitt being “devastated” that Jolie had a new boyfriend, who was said to be a real estate agent. Only, as stated above, the actress wasn’t and isn’t dating anyone. “She is absolutely not seeing anyone and will not be,” said the recent People article. Pitt certainly wasn’t “devastated” about a nonexistent situation. Unfortunately, it’s unlikely these phony stories about the famous exes will slow down anytime soon. Gossip Cop, however, will be here to separate fact from fiction.
