Since Brad Pitt separated from Angelina Jolie in the fall of 2016, he’s remained single and hasn’t moved on to a new relationship. But the gossip media has spent the last year and a half trying to dupe readers when it comes to the actor’s love life. Here, Gossip Cop sets the record straight on five wrong dating rumors.
Only two months after Jolie filed for divorce, Star announced Pitt was having “secret hookups” with Kate Hudson. Naturally, the magazine had no real proof, and a spokesperson for the actor confirmed to Gossip Cop the cover story was a “complete fabrication” that had “zero truth” to it. But the publication launched a storyline that included subsequent articles about Hudson being pregnant and Pitt moving in with her. By March of 2017, the tabloid tried to weasel out of its lies by claiming she “dumped” him. But the jig was up for good in November, when Hudson herself denied that the dating rumor was true, just as we had said nearly a year before.
In April of 2017, the New York Post claimed Pitt and Sienna Miller were “doing some serious flirting” after the Los Angeles premiere of The Lost City of Z, which he produced. A purported “witness” claimed he and the actress were seen “heavily enjoying each other’s company” at a group dinner for the cast and crew. Pitt’s rep, however, exclusively told Gossip Cop there was “nothing” going on between the two. Our reporting was proven right a few days later when Miller herself shut down the flirting rumors, calling the claims “predictable and silly.” Ironically, she gave her denial to the paper, the same outlet that sparked the falsehoods in the first place.
Last October, In Touch alleged Pitt was “falling for” Ella Purnell, who happened to play the younger version of Jolie’s character in Maleficent. The story was concocted not just because of the Jolie connection, but because Purnell was set to star in a TV adaptation of the novel “Sweetbitter,” which Pitt was producing. A so-called “source” cited by the tabloid claimed he “went out of his way” to cast her in the series, and maintained it was “only a matter of time before Brad takes their relationship to the next level.” At the time, Gossip Cop was assured there was no truth to the tale, which the actress herself made clear, tweeting that she had “never” even met Pitt at that point. Purnell again addressed the tabloid rumor earlier this month, calling it “super ridiculous.”
Lately, the rumor mill has focused on Pitt and Neri Oxman. Even though almost from the start it was reported that he and the MIT professor were “strictly friends,” which Gossip Cop confirmed, multiple outlets have been trying to turn that friendship into a full-blown romance. Woman’s Day, for example, ran a story in early May contending Pitt was taking Oxman to a family wedding so she could bond with his parents and sister. Tellingly, the magazine had no details whatsoever, such as when and where the nuptials were taking place and just who was supposedly tying the knot. But the outlet nevertheless insisted that the purported plans were a sign that their relationship had become “serious.” Of course, “Entertainment Tonight” had already reported that in the wake of Pitt’s complicated split from Jolie, he was “in no way ready to get serious with anyone.”
Amidst all of these bogus claims, there’s no one Pitt has been wrongly linked to more than his ex-wife, Jennifer Aniston. Aside from being untrue, some of the allegations have been particularly outrageous. NW, for instance, published a cover story in March declaring Pitt and Aniston were “married in Paris,” even though he’s not yet divorced. It was all a big deception, right down to the photos of the actress in a wedding dress, which Gossip Cop explained were actually from the filming of the 2008 movie Marley & Me. The tabloid also showcased what appeared to be a picture of Pitt and Aniston kissing, but was really a 2010 image of him and Jolie that was digitally edited. The former spouses’ individual reps also confirmed to us multiple times that they were not reconciling, and People had already reported earlier this year that Pitt and Aniston haven’t even seen one another “in ages.”
Unfortunately, the gossip media often rather ignore reality in order to present pure fantasy. Gossip Cop, on the other hand, fact-checks and sticks to the truth. And there’s no bigger truth-teller than time itself. In each of the above examples, time has shown that Pitt is not dating any of the women in question. Furthermore, just like there’s all this proof that he isn’t involved with these stars, when Pitt does embark eventually on a new romance, there will be evidence proving it.
